Brother CS6000i Vs SC9500 Comparison In Detail

Brother CS6000i and SC9500 are two quality computerized sewing machines from Brother. Even though they are computerized machines, they differ a lot in features. To me, Brother CS6000i is the ideal beginners' machine. It has the features, stitch quality, ease of use and last but not the least, affordability. SC9500 is slightly more advanced in features in comparison with CS6000i.

Brother CS6000i Vs SC9500 - Major Feature Differences

Even the shape of the machines are different. CS6000i has a curvaceous design whereas SC9500 is more squarish or rectangular in shape. However, the shape doesn't matter for a sewing machine, what matters is how it can sew. The dimensions are more or less the same, you might find a slight difference on paper, that's it.

Built-in Sewing Stitches

This is an important factor in this comparison, because in most cases this becomes the deciding factor. Brother CS6000i comes with 60 built-in sewing stitches but SC9500 on the other hand comes with 90. So the latter has the advantage of 30 extra sewing stitches which adds to the stitch options. Brother SC9500 has 8 one-step buttonhole stitches in comparison with the 7 one-step buttonholes of CS6000i. Yes, SC9500 has more stitch variety, but CS6000i also has a good selection of basic, buttonhole and decorative stitches.

Built-in Font for Basic Monogramming

This is the second biggest difference between CS6000i and SC9500. The former does not have a font basic monogramming. SC9500 on the other hand comes with a font for sewing letters and numbers. SC9500 has 55 alphanumeric stitches for this purpose.

Machine Weight

Brother SC9500 is lighter by 3.1 lbs in comparison with CS6000i. Weight becomes a consideration if you want to attend sewing classes.

Editor comment

The stitch quality is more or less the same on both machines. However Brother SC9500, by virtue of extra stitches and lettering option, lets you be more creative. Brother CS6000i on the other hand comes with almost all features needed by a beginner, which is the reason why it is one of the most popular beginners' sewing machine in US. I can't give you a recommendation for this comparison because I feel, you know what suits you the best.
