Brother JX2517 Vs LX2763 Comparison In Detail
Brother JX2517 and LX2763 are two entry level sewing machines. Both machines have very high reputation. However they are not very similar in features. We are looking at this comparison from the point of view of a beginner. Let us see what are the differences.
Brother JX2517 Vs LX2763 - Major Feature Differences
The design and positioning of controls are different on both machines.
Built-in Stitches
Brother JX2517 comes with 17 built-in stitches including a four-step buttonhole. LX2763 comes with 27 built-in stitches including a one-step buttonhole. If you count the stitch functions, JX2517 has 38 and LX2763 has 63. So LX2763 has the advantage of extra 10 built-in stitches, 25 stitch functions and one-step buttonhole. In my opinion, the one-step buttonhole of LX2763 is more beginner friendly than four-step buttonhole of JX2517. You can finish the buttonhole in one step rather than four.
Automatic Needle Threader
Brother LX2763 comes with an automatic needle threader, which will thread the eye of the needle for you. JX2517 does not have this feature. You will have to thread the needle manually.
Motor Speed
Brother JX2517 can sew faster than LX2763. JX2517's motor can deliver 900 stitches/min, whereas LX2763's motor can deliver only 800 stitches/min.
Feed System
Brother LX2763 comes with 6 piece feed dog system and JX2517 has a 4 piece feed dog system.
Drop Feed
Brother LX2763 has drop feed for free-motion works, but JX2517 does not have this feature.
Editor comment
Both machines have good stitch quality. They are excellent over lightweight-medium weight fabrics. But in my opinion, Brother LX2763 is slightly better in terms of ease of use. The extra beginner friendly features like automatic needle threader and one-step buttonhole gives advantage to LX2763. Not to forget the extra stitches.
Brother JX2517 is also a good quality machine, but in direct comparison with LX2763, it does miss out on some beginner friendly features.
