Brother SQ9050 Vs CS6000i Comparison In Detail
Brother SQ9050 and CS6000i are computerized sewing machines. But they are not identical at all. CS6000i is a superstar in the beginners' category. Its dominance in the market is due to a combination of 3 things namely features, quality and affordability. Beginners absolutely love this sewing machine. SQ9050 on the other hand is another quality offering from Brother. It is definitely the more advanced of the two. Let us see what the differences are.
Brother SQ9050 Vs CS6000i - Major Feature Differences
The basic design of both machines are more or less the same. Still there is a difference in the graphics and stitch chart. The stitch chart on Brother CS6000i is straight forward. You can read it from the front straightaway. Since SQ9050 comes with more built-in stitches than CS6000i, the stitch chart has an extra flip over attachment to accommodate all the stitches.
Built-in Stitches
Whenever you search for a sewing machine, the first thing you will look at is the number of built-in stitches. Brother SQ9050 has 40 extra built-in stitches in comparison with CS6000i. SQ9050 comes with 100 built-in stitches including 8 one-step buttonholes. CS6000i on the other hand comes with 60 built-in stitches including 7 one-step buttonholes. Even though CS6000i comes with quite a good variety of decorative stitches, SQ9050 has even more.
Input Screen
The method of input is the same on both machines. To select stitches, you can use the push buttons provided near the LCD screen and then view the settings on the screen. However, the screen on CS6000i is not backlit, which makes it slightly difficult to view in low light conditions. SQ9050 has a backlit screen.
Feed System
Brother SQ9050 has a 7-point feed system and CS6000i has 6-point system. Technically speaking, the 7-point system is good for better control and precision while sewing, but in practical conditions 6-point system of CS6000i is as good as any.
Monogram
SQ9050 comes with a lettering font for basic monograms. CS6000i misses out on this feature. So if you want to do letters, there is only one option.
Machine Weight
Brother SQ9050 is 3.1 lbs lighter than CS6000i. Weight comes into picture only if you move your machine around quite often or while attending sewing classes.
Editor comment
As far as stitch quality is concerned, Brother CS6000i is almost as good as any other premium sewing machine. As I have pointed out earlier, the quality of stitches combined with good features and affordability made CS6000i sewers favorite. This sewing machine will always have a special place in my heart. Brother SQ9050 on the other hand is slightly more feature packed than CS6000i. The extra features will always give SQ9050 a slight edge over CS6000i.
