Janome DC2014 Vs DC2015 Comparison In Detail
Janome DC2014 and DC2015 are two popular computerized sewing machines from Janome. These models belong to the limited edition DC series of sewing machines which were released in the respective years. So from the model numbers itself, it is pretty clear that DC2014 came in the year 2014 and DC2015 in the year 2015. Years have passed and still they are going strong. The reason is because sewers were impressed by the stitch quality and build quality of these two machines. Let us compare these two machines in detail.
Janome DC2014 Vs DC2015 - Major Feature Differences
Both are computerized sewing machines alright, but the designs are entirely different. The design of previous DC machines were very similar. Especially if you compare the designs of DC2014 with that of DC2013 or DC2012. The difference between DC2014 and its previous models were very few, but Janome DC2015 is very unique in this regard. Janome DC2015 does not have any similarity in design with its previous models. Even the location and design of buttons are unique. Now let us have a look at the areas where DC2014 and DC2015 differ.
Built-in Stitches
The most apparent difference between Janome DC2014 and DC2015 is in the number of built-in stitches. DC2014 comes with 50 built-in stitches which includes 3 one-step buttonholes. DC2015 on the other hand comes with 60 built-in stitches which includes 6 one-step buttonholes. Even though both machines have enough stitches to choose from, the 10 extra stitches that come with DC2015 gives it a slight advantage.
Sewing Start/Stop Button
This is the second biggest difference between the two. Janome DC2014 does not have a sewing start/stop button. What this means is that, you won't be able to sew without using the foot controller. However, DC2014 has a sewing speed control slider, which in absence of start/stop button acts merely as a top speed limiter when you press down on the foot controller.
Janome DC2015 comes with a sewing start/stop button which lets you sew without using the foot controller. You just need to set the maximum sewing speed using the slider and push the start/stop button. The machine will start sewing. In fact, the start/stop button won't work if the foot controller is connected to the machine. The sewing start/stop button thus gives you a lot of freedom while sewing.
Presser Foot Pressure
Presser foot pressure is adjustable on Janome DC2015, whereas it is not adjustable on DC2014. Even though DC2014 performs well with default pressure, I always prefer an option to adjust it, as it gives you that extra bit of option to fine tune the pressure to get optimum stitch quality.
These are the areas where these two machines differ, all other features are displayed on the table below.
Editor comment
Both are quality machines for sure and both performs admirably well on multiple layers of thick fabrics. The stitch quality over lightweight fabrics is also good. Nothing disappoints you in the stitch quality department of these two sewing machines. Both machines are neck on neck in terms of stitch quality and ease of use. However the teeny bit of extra features that come with Janome DC2015 makes me lean towards it. DC2014 in isolation is an absolute quality machine though.
