Janome HD1000 Vs Singer 4411 Comparison

Janome HD1000 Vs Singer 4411 Comparison In Detail

Whenever you look for a heavy duty sewing machine, you are bound to come across Janome HD1000 and Singer 4411. Because these two are class apart from among half a dozen heavy duty sewing machines available in the price bracket.

Janome HD1000 Vs Singer 4411 – Major Feature Differences

Both are heavy duty mechanical sewing machines designed to deal with thick fabrics. Feature wise, they are quite different. Let us go through the differences.

Built-in Stitches

Janome HD1000 has the upper hand here with 14 built-in stitches. Singer 4411 has only 11 built-in stitches. Both machines come with a 4-step buttonhole as well.

Automatic Needle Threader

One of the biggest bummer of Singer 4411 is that it doesn't feature an automatic needle threader. You will have to rely on the power of your eyes. Janome HD1000 comes with an automatic needle threader which threads the needle for you.

Bobbin Type

Singer machine comes with an easy to load, top drop-in bobbin. The Janome machine on the other hand has only a front loading bobbin, which means you will have to remove the accessory storage compartment to change the bobbin. From beginner’ point of view, a top drop-in bobbin is much easier to use.

Presser Foot Pressure

Singer 4411 gives the extra option of adjustable presser foot pressure to fine tune the results. This is absent on Janome HD1000, as the presser foot pressure is automatic.

Motor Power

On paper, Singer 4411 clearly has the more powerful motor. It can deliver 1,100 stitches/min. Janome HD1000 comes with a motor that can deliver 840 stitches/min. But in practical conditions, we felt the Janome machine performed slightly better with multiple layers of thick fabrics like denim.

Stitch Width

Singer 4411 offers more creativity with a maximum stitch width of 6mm. Janome HD1000 has a maximum stitch width of only 5mm. It is not a huge difference though.

Build Quality

Even though both machines come with a heavy duty tag, there are some plastic parts. When you compare Janome HD1000 and Singer 4411, the Janome machine is slightly ahead in build quality. There seems to be less use of plastic on HD1000. However Singer 4411 makes up for it in portability.

Editor comment

Janome HD1000 is a work horse. It can sew for hours with consistent results. Its ability to sew multiple layers of denim made it popular among sewers. Singer 4411 on the other hand is an affordable option. It has very good stitch quality and it will be handy for those looking for an affordable heavy duty sewing machine with decent features.
