3 Best Cover Stitch Machines You Can Get In US

While there are sergers which can be converted to cover stitch, the conversion can be very difficult and frustrating. Moreover, you may not get the professional quality you are looking for. I am a perfectionist, I never liked the idea of compromising on quality, so I have always been a fan of specialized tools for different works. A cover stitch machine will give you that neat finish to hems, which sergers at times fail to provide. The tricky thing about cover stitch machines is that, you don't have a lot of options to choose from (in comparison with the wide variety of sergers available in the market, especially in the entry level segment).

Honestly speaking, there are not many dedicated cover stitch machines in the entry level segment. The options are very limited. I was planning to do a 'Top 5 List' but I could not find that many cover stitch machines with the standard of quality that I am looking for, so I had to trim down this list to just 3. Here I have compiled a list of 3 best cover stitch machines that you can get without draining your pocket. I hope this list will help you make a decision.

Brother 2340CV Review In Detail

#1 - Brother 2340CV

One of the best entry level cover stitch machines you can get in US. Brother 2340CV is a class machine, which has a magical combination of affordability and stitch quality. This is the reason why it became a sewers' favorite . The stitch quality is right up there with expensive machines. It has 2/3/4 thread cover stitch capability. It can do chain stitches and comes with differential feed (Ratio 0.7 - 2.0). 2340CV has a powerful motor that can deliver 1,100 stitches/min.  This machine covers all the basics as far as a cover stitch machine is concerned. The only thing missing is the free arm feature.

Janome 900CPX Review In Detail

#2 - Janome 900CPX

Janome CoverPro 900CPX is a fierce competitor. This Janome machine has very good stitch quality and it can put in long hours of work without stalling. The machine can do 1 needle – 2 thread chain stitch, 2 needle – 3 thread cover stitch. The machine is very quiet as well. It has differential feed (Ratio 0.5 to 2.25), free arm and a 1,000 stitches/min motor.  CoverPro 900CPX is affordable and has very good quality associated with it.

Janome Cover Pro 1000CPX Review In Detail

#3 - Janome Cover Pro 1000CPX

Janome Cover Pro 1000CPX is a slightly more advanced machine than 900CPX. 1000CPX has additional 3 needle operation as against the 2 needle operation of 900CPX. Also the 1000CPX offers more variety of stitch width options [With two needles: 6mm (standard), 3mm (narrow), With three needles: 6mm (3mm + 3mm)]. The stitch width on 900CPX remains constant at 5mm. Like the previous machine, the stitch quality on 1000CPX is also excellent. Other features of 1000CPX include differential feed (Ratio 0.5 to 2.25), 1,000 stitches/min motor, free arm etc.

This concludes my list of 3 Best Cover Stitch Machines You Can Get In US. Each of the three machines have their own merits and demerits, so you need to make sure that the machine you choose, meets your requirements.
