Brother DZ2400 Review

Brother DZ2400 Review In Detail

Brother DZ2400 offers quite a bit of options for a creative person. Lack of presser foot pressure adjustment is the only thing missing.

Editor rating

Brother DZ2400 belongs to the Designio Series of sewing machines, which means it will come with a full set of designer accessories including an extension table. There are 6 Designio Series machines and DZ2400 is the starting model. From the features, it is pretty clear that Brother targets advanced users with this sewing machine. The machine comes with 185 built-in stitches including 130 sewing stitches and 55 alphanumeric stitches. There are 8 1-step buttonholes on this machine.

The extension table increases the available workspace. Being computerized, you will get all advanced features like automatic needle threader, programmable needle up/down, top drop-in bobbin, sewing start/stop and speed control slider. The maximum sewing speed is 850 stitches/min, which is pretty much the standard nowadays. Brother DZ2400 has an advanced 7-point feed system which ensures smooth fabric feeding.

LCD screen is backlit and you can easily view the stitch number, stitch settings and the recommended foot. The maximum stitch width and length are 7mm and 5mm respectively. The work area is illuminated by LED. The highlight of this sewing machine is the accessory package that comes with it (it has a lot of accessories). 1 included font lets you do some basic monogramming. The machine can do free arm and free-motion quilting as well. Brother DZ2400 is very portable as it weighs just 9.9 lbs. It has 25 years limited warranty cover as well. Built-in accessory compartment is another handy feature.

Ease of Use

Setting up Brother DZ2400 won't be a problem, as it comes with a well written user manual. The machine also comes with an included DVD which makes the task even more easier. The stitch quality is commendable. The stitches are consistent across a variety of fabrics. The stitch quality over denim is pretty good, provided you use the denim needle and go slow. 6 layers of denim would not be a problem for this machine. DZ2400 doesn't make a lot of noise. You can say that it is moderately quiet.

There is no option to adjust the presser foot pressure. It is preset instead.

•    User friendly
•    Lightweight
•    Good variety of stitches
•    Good stitch quality

•    No presser foot pressure adjustment

Brother DZ2400 offers quite a bit of stitch options and it performs admirably well. The included accessory package is the icing on the cake. All in all, it is a very good sewing machine to consider.
