Singer 4452 Review In Detail

Singer 4452 is a very good entry level heavy duty sewing machine. However, it is not 100% metal. It is very user-friendly.

Editor rating

Singer 4452 is a heavy duty mechanical sewing machine. 4452 comes with 32 built-in stitches including 6 Basic Stitches, 7 Stretch Stitches, 18 Decorative Stitches and a one-step buttonhole. The automatic needle threader threads the needle without any issues. The machine comes with a beginner friendly top drop-in bobbin.

Singer 4452 comes with a stainless steel bed plate for easy fabric feeding. There is a built-in accessory storage compartment which on removal gives access to free arm. The extra high presser foot lifter is handy while sewing multiple layers of fabric. The presser foot pressure can be manually adjusted. Stitches are selected by turning the dial. There is a separate dial for adjusting stitch length. The stitch width can be set to a maximum of 6mm. 3 needle positions are available on the machine. It has drop feed option as well.

The best thing about Singer 4452 is its motor. It is way more powerful than most of its competitors. Singer says it is 60% more powerful. The motor can deliver 1,100 stitches/min.

Ease of Use

One thing we really liked about Singer 4452 is that it has a very simple design. It doesn't have a plethora of buttons to scare you off. 4452 is very beginner friendly and is an easy machine to use. The performance on multiple layers of denim is commendable (the powerful motor works the magic here). This machine can handle up to 8 layers of denim with ease. The stitch quality on other fabrics is also great. As we have said earlier, beginner friendly features like top drop-in bobbin, automatic needle threader and 1-step buttonhole makes life easier for a beginner. There is a nice variety of built-in stitches as well.

Even though it is heavyduty, Singer 4452 still has some exterior plastic parts. However they are not cheap plastic. The build quality is pretty good for a beginner machine.

•    User friendly
•    Stitch options
•    Good on thick fabrics
•    Good stitch quality

•    Not 100% heavy duty
