Singer One Review In Detail

When you consider Singer one alone, it is a great sewing machine for beginners. But we feel that it is a bit short on features. Other than that it is a champion.

Editor rating

Singer one is a beautiful looking sewing machine. It is an electronic sewing machine. It is a perfect blend of classic looks with modern technology. It comes with 25 year limited warranty.

Ease of Use

User manual of Singer one comes with all detailed instructions. You will also get an instructional DVD which contains all information about the working of the machine. It also comes with project tutorials as well.

Singer one comes ready to use, out of the box. Little setting up effort is required. This sewing machine comes with a beautiful looking LCD display for stitch selection and other stuffs. It comes with automatic optimal settings for stitch length and width. The screen will display which foot to use. You can also customize the settings if you prefer manual settings.

The drop-in bobbin feature is one thing that we really like about Singer one. Threading the machine is also very easy, you must read the user manual before threading the machine. This sewing machine comes with 24 built-in stitches, 2 fully automatic one-step button holes. Its quick use stitch setting is another good feature. The storage compartment on Singer one is quite large, good enough for everyone. The extension table is capable of dealing with large projects. The arm measures 14.7 inches.

It stitches through thick layers of fabrics quite well. The stitches come out perfect. We tried it with 8 layers of denim and it did a good job. The machine will sound the buzzer and show an error message when the presser is not in position or something is wrong. You can do reverse stitching using the reverse button provided. Singer one comes with an automatic presser foot pressure control mechanism which automatically adjusts the pressure exerted by the presser foot against the feed dogs.
The LED work light illuminates the work area quite well. The foot pedal is very responsive. This machine is slightly heavier when compared to its competitors, which may be a testimony to its build quality as well.

Singer could have included a lot more built-in stitches especially when you consider the segment which the machine belongs.

Misses out on features like Sewing start/stop, speed control slider, font for monogramming etc.

•    Easy to use
•    No needle break issues
•    Perfect stitches
•    One touch stitch selection

  • Less on features

Review Verdict

Singer one is not the most advanced sewing machine you could get, but it is a perfect machine for beginners. It doesn't pack a lot of features, but if you know what you are looking for, this one could become a good sewing partner for you. However we still can't get over the fact that it is short on features. If that is the case, you can always have a look at the Singer One Plus which is far more advanced in features.
